Creating a New Request

Creating a New Request

Start a new discount request in minutes.

Last updated: Jun 11, 2026

Creating a request in DiscountFlow starts a new draft that you can build out before submitting for approval. Requests are saved automatically as you work, so you can come back to finish them later.

Step 1: Open the New Request Form

  1. In the sidebar, click Requests.
  2. Click New Request in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Fill In the Request Details

The top section of the request form captures the context for your request:

  • Request name — A short, descriptive label (for example, “Acme Corp Q3 Deal” or “End-of-month close — 20% off order”). This is how the request will appear in your list and to approvers.
  • Request type — Select the type that matches the nature of the discount. Your organization’s administrator configures the available types. The request type may also determine which custom fields appear below.
  • Notes — An optional free-text field for any context that will help approvers understand the request — deal background, customer relationship notes, urgency, etc.
  • Custom fields — If your organization has defined custom fields for the selected request type, they will appear here. Fill in all required fields before submitting.

Step 3: Add Line Items

Line items are the products being discounted. At least one line item is required before you can submit.

  1. Click Add Line Item in the line items section.
  2. Search for and select a product from your organization’s catalog.
  3. Enter the quantity.
  4. Review the pre-filled list price pulled from the catalog.
  5. Enter the requested price — the discounted unit price you are seeking approval for.

Repeat for each product included in the request. To remove a line item, click the remove icon on the right side of the row.

See Adding and Managing Line Items for more detail on pricing fields and editing after the fact.

Step 4: Save or Submit

  • Save as draft — The request is saved and stays in your Drafts. You can return and edit it at any time before submitting.
  • Submit for approval — The request is locked and enters the approval queue at the first approval level. You will not be able to edit line items or request details after submitting.

If you’re not ready to submit, close the form — your work is saved automatically.

After Creating a Request

Once saved, the request appears in your Requests list with a Draft status badge. You can open it at any time to continue editing, add line items, or submit.

When you’re ready to send it for approval, see Submitting a Request for Approval.
