Denying a Request

Deny a request that does not meet approval criteria

Last updated: Jul 2, 2026

When a submitted request does not meet the requirements for approval, a reviewer can deny it. Denial moves the request to the Denied Requests list.

Who can deny requests

The same users who can approve requests can deny them — users with an appropriate approval level assigned to their account, or users with the approve requests permission.

How to deny a request

  1. Open the request from the Active Requests list by clicking the requestor name or project name link.
  2. Review the request details.
  3. Click Deny on the request details view.

The request status changes to Denied and it moves from the Active Requests list to the Denied Requests list.

After denial

  • The requestor is notified of the denial based on your organization's notification settings.
  • The denied request is visible to the requestor in the Denied Requests list.
  • The request is read-only after denial — no fields can be edited.
  • The request can be exported to CSV or PDF.
  • The request can be archived or deleted by users with the appropriate permissions.

If a request was denied by mistake

There is no self-service undo for a denial. If a request was denied in error, the requestor should create a new request with the corrected details and submit it again.
